The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving the construction of the Oyo Circular Road linking Ijawaya, Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Sabo, Ilora and Akinmorin in Oyo Federal Constituency.
The monarch described the approval as a demonstration of the President’s commitment to infrastructure development and improving the socio-economic well-being of the people.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the Alaafin recalled that during his recent visit to President Tinubu at his Bourdillon residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, he emphasised the urgent need for critical infrastructure to improve economic activities and the quality of life in Oyo metropolis.
Oba Owoade said the poor condition of roads in the metropolis had, for decades, posed serious socio-economic challenges, expressing confidence that the circular road project would ease transportation, boost commerce and enhance access to essential services.
According to him, the project will improve connectivity within the metropolis and neighbouring communities, reduce travel time for farmers and traders, attract investments, and facilitate quicker access to healthcare facilities, particularly during emergencies.
The monarch described the project as a major milestone in the development of Oyo, saying it reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to grassroots development and infrastructure renewal.
Oba Owoade also commended prominent indigenes of Oyo State , including Engr. Idris Adeoye Adegboyega, Alhaji Wasiu Adebisi, and Dr. Zacch Adedeji, for their contributions to the development of the ancient town.
He thanked President Tinubu for approving the project and prayed for wisdom and strength for the President as he continues to lead the country.
