Ugochinyere condoles with Ezenna family over death of matriarch

The member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo, has expressed condolences to the family of the late Ezinne Comfort Ezenna Ebiliekwe, mother of businessman and founder of Orange Drugs Nigeria Limited, Sir Tony Ezenna.

In a message issued on Monday, Ugochinyere described the late Ezinne as a woman of strong character whose life reflected hard work, discipline, and devotion to community development.

The lawmaker noted that her passing came at a time when her wisdom and guidance were still needed by her family and community.

“Ezinne Comfort Ezenna Ebiliekwe lived an exemplary life which impacted society positively,” he said.
He added that her influence could be seen in the accomplishments of her children, particularly Sir Tony Ezenna, whom he described as a product of her values and nurturing.

Ugochinyere extended condolences to the Ezenna family on behalf of the people of Ideato North and South, praying for the repose of her soul and comfort for those she left behind.

Disburses ₦61m to Imo massacre victims

Recall that in August, Ugochinyere presented ₦61 million to families affected by the July 24 massacre in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.
Gunmen on motorbikes had attacked Umualaoma, Ndiejezie, Arondizuogu, and Osina communities, killing 26 people and injuring several others.

Hundreds of residents gathered at Ugochinyere’s country home in Akokwa on Tuesday for the presentation ceremony.

The lawmaker explained that the ₦61 million relief fund was raised through contributions from his friends, including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, to assist bereaved families and survivors.

“This will not bring back their loved ones, but it’s a way of walking with them through this difficult moment and praying this never happens again,” Ugochinyere said.

While commending security agencies for their efforts, he criticised the poor state of local vigilante operations, citing inadequate equipment and funding.

He urged the Imo State Government to prioritise community security, warning that he would expose alleged financial mismanagement if the situation persisted.

“If I come again and vigilante groups are not paid and equipped, the local police are not equipped, and our people are still being killed, while Ideato North and South Local Governments are receiving almost ₦1bn monthly, I will tell the whole world where the money is going. I have all the documents. I know every kobo that has left that account,” he stated.

One of the beneficiaries, Ozioma Munachi, expressed gratitude to Ugochinyere and his supporters, describing the emotional trauma of the attack as “a scar that will take years to heal.”
