Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, yesterday, expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win with a landslide in the 2023 governorship election in the state, citing credentials, as well as popularity of the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah.

Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi (left); Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Peter Mbah; the state governor and PDP candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; the state Chairman of the party, Augustine Nnamani, and Director General, state PDP Campaign Organisation, Chief Ikeje Asogwa during the inauguration of party’s state Campaign Organisation by Ugwuanyi, in Enugu… yesterday.

Peter Mbah.

He also said that the PDP government has performed creditably in the past 20 years.

While inaugurating members of the state PDP Campaign Council ahead of the 2023 general elections, Ugwuanyi said that his administration has performed beyond expectations of the people.

The governor charged the Campaign Council, as well as members of the party, to see it as their responsibility to campaign for the party in all nooks and crannies of the state.

He urged them to be peaceful, law-abiding and civil in their activities.

He said: “The 2023 political calendar has long begun, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had long lifted the ban on election campaigns.

“More so, the constitution and inauguration of the Campaign Organisation, which would effectively drive our campaign for victory of all our candidates in the 2023 general elections, have become a compelling necessity.

“Our party has constituted a robust state Campaign Organisation under the leadership of Chief Ikeje Asogwa, the former state Chairman of our party, as the Director General.

“The organisation, composed with battle-tested, competent and experienced politicians, will ensure that our candidates achieve early and comfortably win in the 2023 polls.

“It is also my expectation that our campaign will leverage the stellar performance of the current PDP government in our state, the goodwill of our party and the intimidating credentials and general acceptability of the flag bearer of our party to achieve landslide victory for all our candidates in the 2023 general elections.”
