Enugu State government has announced that the 17 newly elected chairmen and their deputies who emerged from the recently held local council elections would be sworn-in March 3.

In a statement, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, said the ceremony is slated for the Michael Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu, at 10am.

In another development, the state government has banned the operation of tricycle (Keke), motorcycles and tipper-truck in all communities in Nkanu East, Nkanu West and Enugu South.

Ortuanya disclosed that the decision was sequel to an emergency Security Council meeting on the heels of the recent spike in insecurity in parts of the state.

The statement enjoined members of the public to comply with the order as security agencies have been directed to enforce it.
