Two years after suspending union activities on campus, the management of the University of Ibadan (UI) has lifted the ban on students’ union activities.

In 2007, the student union president, Ojo Aderemi, was suspended in the wake of protests over the non-issuance of identity cards. But at the end of the Senate meeting last Friday, the vice-chancellor, Prof. Abel Olayinka, announced that the ban has been lifted.

The president of council of faculties, Victor Olaonipekun, has been saddled with the responsibility of conducting a free and fair election to usher in new executives within the next nine weeks.
