Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s policy of building concrete roads across the nation for durability. Speaking during the inspection of a section of the ongoing dualisation project of the Calabar-Odukpani-Itu and Ikot-Ekpene Road, which cuts across Cross River and Akwa-Ibom states, the minister urged construction companies nationwide to learn from the ingenuity of Sermatech Nigeria Limited.
Sermatech is an indigenous construction company currently handling a 28.6-kilometre stretch from Odukpani to Oku-Iboku. Umahi, who visited the power plant section in Odukpani, Cross River State, to Oku Iboku, in Akwa Ibom State, said he was proud of what he saw on the ground.
The dualisation project includes the construction of four bridges. Accompanied by the Managing Director of Sermatech, Isioma Ezi-ashi, the company’s Project Manager, Dr. Joe Ukpata, and Site Engineer, Iheanacho Chibieze, the minister said: “This is an indigenous contractor, and we are proud of what he is doing. I want more indigenous contractors to come and learn from Sermatech.”
