LASU, tackle the poor internet service in our e-library

A student of LASU, Mr Godwin Izu who us in his 300-level has asked the school authorities to tackle the problem of poor internet servive in its library.

Izu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the poor internet service was hindering effective usage of the University’s e-library by students.

He regretted that the poor state of affairs in the e-learning centre was making learning burdensome for students on campus.

“Most of us have gotten used to online studies; we have almost discarded studying using hard copy since the refurbishment of the centre in 2013.

“However, with the current state of affairs at the centre, we now spend a lot of money to go to cybercafes to do our class work.

“This is certainly not the best state of affairs for us, the students.

“We are in an age where paper work has been discarded for online study; it will be a disservice to many of us if the school’s e-learning centre falls into ruins,’’ the undergraduate student said.

Another student, Miss Nike Adebowale of its School of Language Studies, noted that the poor network quality started during the first semester of the current session.

“The LASU community has been enjoying the centre before now.

“Students now go through difficulties doing their research as many of us have subscribed to online libraries across the globe.

“E-learning makes learning trendy, there is easy cross-fertilization of ideas among scholars,’’ Adebowale said.

According to her, students get engrossed when studying online, unlike the tediousness of studying from hard copy books.

Adebowale called on the school’s student union to champion the cause and ensure that everything was done to restore and maintain quality internet service at the centre.
