UNIDO unveils four-year development plan for Nigeria

The United Nations Development Organisation (UNIDO) has unveiled a four-year science-oriented development plan, covering 2018 to 2022, to promote industrial expansion in Nigeria.

During the launch in Abuja, Reuben Bamidele of the global agency listed the areas of interest to include poverty reduction, metal and minerals, trade capacity building, sustainable energy and agribusiness.

Others are industrial governance, research and statistics, special economic zones, such as industrial parks, as well as private sector development and environmental management.

“UNIDO is collaborating with the Nigerian government on a number of projects, including ‘Global Clean Technology Innovation’ for micro small medium entrepreneurs and MSMEs’ development,” he stated.

Bamidele added that his organisation would provide support to the Federal Government during the technology needs assessment process as well as develop a roadmap and strategy for climate change management.
