Velox Real Estate has commenced the formal allocation of plots for “The Retreat,” a mixed-use eco resort estate in Port Harcourt, described by the developers as the first of its kind in South-South Nigeria.
The allocation ceremony took place on Saturday, July 28, and follows the company’s earlier announcement to develop an environmentally conscious estate that integrates hospitality with residential living in Rivers State.
Speaking at the event, Velox Real Estate CEO, Akorvueze Nwakanma, said the project is an attempt to rethink how real estate is approached in the region. “We’re not just doing real estate the conventional way. We’re building a lifestyle, a home away from home. A destination where every day feels like a vacation,” he said.
According to the company, “The Retreat” will feature an artificial lake, golf course, greenhouse farms, and recreational spaces. The development also includes energy-efficient systems, nature-based infrastructure, and a zero-carbon policy within designated green zones.
The project is sited within the Port Harcourt metropolis and is designed to appeal to families and professionals seeking a blend of residential comfort and leisure amenities. Velox said the estate’s design aims to promote well-being through nature integration and sustainable living practices.
The allocation event was attended by investors, subscribers, and other stakeholders, many of whom are already involved in the project. Velox officials confirmed that the estate’s early development phases will proceed following the allocation, with infrastructure and community features scheduled for phased implementation.
Velox Real Estate says “The Retreat” reflects a new direction in urban planning in the Niger Delta region, focused on reducing environmental impact while improving quality of life for residents.
