Victims of NAF plane crash for burial today
The seven officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), who died in last Sunday’s plane crash, will be buried today at the National Cemetery, Abuja.
The victims are Flight Lieutenant Haruna Gadzama (Captain), Flight Lieutenant Henry Piyo (Co-Pilot), Flying Officer, Michael Okpara (Airborne Tactical Observation System (ATOS) Specialist and Warrant Officer, Bassey Etim (ATOS Specialist).
Others are, Flight Sergeant Olasunkanmi Olawunmi (ATOS Specialist), Sergeant Ugochukwu Oluka (ATOS Specialist) and Aircraftman, Adewale Johnson (Onboard Technician).
President Muhamamadu Buhari, Minister of Defence, Magashi Salihi and other prominent Nigerians had commiserated with NAF and families of the deceased, describing the incident as “a national tragedy.”
NAF authorities said investigations into the remote and immediate causes of the crash has commenced on the Beechcraft KingAir BB305i aircraft, which crashed last Sunday due to engine failure.
