Inaugurates elders’ advisory council for agitation
The renowned professor of History and Yoruba leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye, yesterday, said his group and others would continue to pursue the self-determination agenda until they succeed.

Akintoye, who is the leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, stated this while inaugurating the Ilana Omo Oodua Elders’ Advisory Council for the self-determination group in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The Second Republic senator, who spoke virtually, said: “We are ready to fight this self-determination cause until we succeed.

There are some things elders can do but our children cannot do. The youths are in charge; they have energy and vibrancy but they need the support of elders. The elders need to do the necessary legwork and the networking.

“I hereby inaugurate Yoruba Elders’ Advisory for the self-determination groups.”

MEANWHILE, Chairman of the Elders Advisory Council, Alhaji Alli Oyedeji, who spoke after the inauguration, said: “I wish, on behalf of members of the Ilana Omo Oodua Elders’ Advisory Council, to express profound gratitude to the Alana, Prof. Banji Akintoye, for deeming it fit and timely to put in place the advisory council and most importantly for considering the members of the committee worthy to be active participants in the quest for the legitimate and peaceful agitation for the realisation of the Yoruba redemption agenda.

“As an advisory council, we shall collectively engage critical stakeholders in Yorubaland to key into the redemption agenda.

“The recent attempt by some people occupying strategic positions in Ilana Omo Oodua at blackmailing the leadership of the organisation is, to say the least, dead on arrival.”

ALSO, Mr. Tayo Adelakun said over 150 Yoruba self-determination groups unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Akintoye and re-affirmed the mandate given to him to lead the Yoruba people out of the contraption called Nigeria.

“We commend the efforts of Prof. Akintoye in his uncompromising resolve to free Sunday Igboho from incarceration,” he added.
