‘We lost an illustrious son, philanthropist in Okunbo’

Representative of Edo Senatorial zone in the National Assembly, Matthew Urhoghide, on Thursday expressed shock over the death of Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, describing his passing as ‘very painful.’

In a statement issued in Benin City, Urhoghide said with his (Okunbo’s) death, Edo State and Nigeria lost a business guru, philanthropist, illustrious son and patriot.

He described Okunbo, who died in London from pancreatic cancer, as not only a blessing to Edo State and Nigeria, but to all of humanity.

“His death came as a rude shock. The pain and the vacuum created by his death is piercing would be difficult to fill. He was a dependable friend, brother, an astute business man, philanthropist, a man of peace and was firmly love by his people.

“The people have lost a committed giver, consummate businessman. We will continue to remember him, especially for his contributions to humanity,” he said.

He added that he commiserate with his immediate family, loved ones, friends and associates on behalf of the people of Edo South Senatorial zone.
