We’ll prioritise infrastructure to boost industrialisation, says Abiodun

• Electricity: Ogun govt, firm sign MoU to build renewable energy plant
• State partners two RESCOs to generate 1,100MW solar power

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritising infrastructure development as a key driver of industrialisation and inclusive growth across the state.

The governor, who spoke during a town hall meeting and participatory forum for the preparation of the state’s 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2026 budget, held at the Bisi Rodipe Event Centre, Ijebu-Ode, said massive investment in infrastructure would remain central to his administration’s developmental agenda.

Abiodun, represented by the state’s Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Dapo Okubadejo, emphasised the importance of citizens’ engagement in shaping government policies that reflect the people’s priorities.

Also, the state government, through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Renew Power Limited to build a renewable energy plant in the state to address electricity challenges.

The MoU was signed by Abiodun, while Vimal Chaudhry and Kamal Solanki signed as directors for the company.

The project aims to develop a 500MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing plant in Ogun State to make energy accessible to the people as well as strengthen the state’s industrial capacity, thereby making the state a key hub in Africa’s renewable energy ecosystem.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Vimal Chaudhry commended Abiodun for creating an enabling environment for investment, adding that the project, when completed, will cement Ogun State’s reputation as Nigeria’s industrial hub.

Similarly, the Ogun State Government and two leading renewable energy service companies (RESCOs) have entered into a landmark partnership agreement to generate around 1,100 MW of solar power in the state to strengthen its industrial base.

The companies include Tranos Contracting Limited, which is to establish a 600MW solar panel manufacturing plant and battery pack in the state, and Vision Gas and Power Limited, which is also to establish a 500MW solar panel manufacturing plant with potential expansion to 1GW.

The partnership was sealed at the instance of the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, during the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) 2025, held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

A statement by Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Media & Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, stated that the forum was convened under the Federal Ministry of Power and co-organised with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE).
