The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPC Ltd.) has issued a stern warning to the public, particularly job seekers, regarding circulating rumours about the sale of employment slots within the organisation.

NNPC had earlier advertised employment opportunities at the state-owned oil company, where most Nigerians would ordinarily want to work.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the spokesperson of NNPC, Olufemi Soneye, categorically denied any involvement in the sale of job slots, labelling the rumour as a fraudulent scheme designed to exploit unsuspecting individuals.

He said that the oil firm does not offer employment slots for sale under any circumstances, stressing that any claims to the contrary are baseless and misleading.

Soneye clarified that its recruitment process is transparent, merit-based, and does not involve financial transactions or other forms of inducement.

The company urged job seekers to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to such scams.

“As a responsible corporate entity, we want to make it clear that recruitment into NNPC Ltd. is a straightforward process. It does not require payment of any kind. Anyone who pays money to secure a job at NNPC Ltd. does so at their own risk,” Soneye said.
