We’re talking with Buhari to reverse Onnoghen’s suspension, says Wike
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that efforts are on to ensure that President Muhammad Buhari reverses the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen.
Wike alleged that because of its aversion for the Niger Delta, the Buhari administration refused to contribute its counterpart fund of N60 billion for the Bonny/Bodo road.
The governor made this assertion at his campaign rally in Bonny Island attended by thousands of PDP supporters.
Saying the federal government was bent on destroying the judiciary, he assured that well-meaning Nigerians would stand up in defence of constitutional democracy and separation of powers.
“We are working to ensure that the unconstitutional removal of the CJN is reversed because it did not follow the rule of law. This dictatorship must end. The APC has failed Nigerians and we need to sack the party,” he said.
According to Wike, the refusal of the Buhari administration to pay the counterpart fund for the construction of the Bonny/Bodo road is a pointer that the government’s aversion for the Niger Delta is irreversible.
