National leadership of the Labour Party (LP) has stated that the party is yet to inaugurate its presidential campaign council in any state of the country and at the national level.

National leadership of the Labour Party (LP) has stated that the party is yet to inaugurate its presidential campaign council in any state of the country and at the national level.

The party also debunked the report that the Imo State party’s campaign team was recently inaugurated with one Mr. Fabian Ihekwueme as the Chairman, describing it as a joke taken too far.

In a statement signed by the LP National Organising Secretary, Clement Ojukwu, and made available to newsmen, the party warned its members and supporters to desist from attempts capable of sabotaging efforts aimed at achieving victory in 2023 poll.

The statement partly reads: “Our attention has been drawn to the report that one Dr. Fabian Ihekweme has been appointed as Imo LP Presidential Campaign Council.

“It’s not undisputed that LP has not made a such appointment or inaugurated any presidential campaign council both at the national or sub-national levels.

“LP, therefore, warns any person or group of persons, as well as support groups that the LP is guided by the Constitution in its activities, and as such, members of the party, as well as interested members of the public should desist from all sorts of hasty dealings and from henceforth take serious caution.

“People must obey the Constitution of the LP and be guided by the party directives with respect to the 2023 general elections.”
