Why checking corruption is the only way

OsinbajoVICE President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday insisted that the only way to make Nigeria great again is to root out corruption from the country.

The Vice President said this is the only panacea to ensuring the growth and development of Nigeria, adding that Nigerians can see the present administration is committed to ending corruption.
Osinbajo spoke at the foundation laying ceremony of 2, 000 civil servants housing units and the ground breaking of Galaxy Mall and Galleria within Kaduna metropolis, projects embarked upon by the state government.

He also expressed confidence in the ability of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to deliver the change the party stands for to the people of the state.

The VP maintained, “the APC promised change and it is already taking place in Kaduna, in the last election APC promised change and the people voted for us because they believed in change and they want change and this change is already taking place in Kaduna.”

Osinbajo posited that the state chief executive, “Malam El-Rufai represents the change that APC is talking about and that he believes strongly that Kaduna State will be great again.”
“Government believes that Nigeria has the resources for us all to live reasonably comfortable. I believe in El-Rufai; that any thing he says he would do it. El-Rufai is a man of his words, and I am looking forward to coming here to commission this projects when it is completed.”

Osinbajo commended the Kaduna State Government and the State House of Assembly for collaborating for the rapid growth and development of the state, adding, “I am happy with the relationship between the executive and the legislature in Kaduna State and President Muhammadu Buhari will be excited with what is happening in Kaduna, especially because of the state’s strategic importance to the country.”

In his welcome address, Kaduna State Governor, Malam El-Rufai told the Vice President, “We have long declared Kaduna State open for business. Our government is playing its role as facilitator, creating the pull to attract investors.”

El Rufai explained, “We are identifying opportunities for the private sector to invest and create jobs for our people. Several of these projects have left the expression of interest stage. Preferred and reserve bidders have been selected for our hospitality project that seeks to build two five-star hotels in Kaduna.”

We have invited bids to build trailer parks and enterprise zones in three locations across the state. Eighty-one companies responded to our call for interest in building new markets and neighborhood centres. When we announced that we considered private investment crucial to raising productivity in our farms and stemming post-harvest losses, we found that investors responded to our invitation with enthusiasm for private grain silos in three locations.”
