Why Kebbi wants FG to dredge River Niger
Kebbi State Government has called on the Federal Government to urgently dredge the River Niger, to avoid flooding in river-link communities of the state.
Governor Abubakar Bagudu made the appeal at a stakeholders’ meeting on the needs assessment conducted by the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), in collaboration with New Approach, in Birnin Kebbi.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Babale, commended the commission for identifying with communities affected by flooding of the River Niger.
According to him, the state government is doing its best to see that other problematic areas highlighted by the commission for intervention, particularly schools, are taken care of.
