The Port Harcourt Electricity Company (PHED) has blamed the problem of epileptic power supply in Yenagoa on insecurity and refusal of customers to pay light bills when due.

The management of the company who said some of their staffs were attacked and brutalized by residents in the course of carrying out their duties listed insecurity as one major factor responsible for the poor power distribution in some states including Bayelsa.

The PHED management led by the Head, Glory City Main Integrated Business Center, (IBC), Mrs. Ngozi Manafa, Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Jonah Iboma, and Project Manager, Projects Management Office, PHED, Chijoke Okwuokwenye, however assured customers of improved and sustained performances.

Mrs. Manafa, while addressing staff and stakeholders at the 2016 special customers’ engagement forum on energy management and electricity bulb exchange, said PHED was faced with huge challenge of losses due to a combination of reasons including non-payment by some customers.

It will be recalled that residents of Yenagoa last month attacked and brutalized some staff of the company who were on a mission to disconnect electricity from consumers owing the company.
