Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has alleged of plot by security agents to eliminate him, just as he castigated the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for purportedly releasing a list of adhoc staff to conduct the December 10 national and state legislative rerun in the state.

Wike made the allegation yesterday while kicking off the rehabilitation of the General Hospitals at Terabor and Bodo both in Gokana Local Council of the state.

“For me, they are threatening that I will be the first governor they will assassinate. They are threatening that they will show me that they are security agencies. But, I will always protect the interest of Rivers State, no matter the threat,” he alleged.

Also yesterday, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada, said he was forced into hiding while the contestation of the November 21, 2015 governorship results in the state lasted, adding that some persons were after his life.

Speaking at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja, Wada said he had to travel out of the country to save his life owing to pockets of threats.

He maintained that he received series of threats from some persons shortly after the election, adding that if he had not left, he may have been eliminated.

“It was very wise and strategic for me to go underground at that time because there were pockets of threats to my life, and I had to secretly relocate to the United Kingdom for about four months to save my head and also take some rest because I was virtually working for 18 hours every day in my four-year administration without rest,” Wada stated.
