Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, have traded accusations over claims that the Federal Government was plotting to plant guns in the state.

While Wike alleges that the purpose of planting some 800 unspecified caliber of guns was to destabilise the state, the APC has accused him of blatant falsehood.

Wike claims that the Federal government took the decision to implement the plot during it last security meeting. According to him, the intelligence came from credible sources that were privy to the ugly plot against the state, declaring that it was rather disheartening that the Federal Government has continued to deliberately compromise the security of the state.

APC spokesperson in the State, Chris Finebone, said no right thinking person will believe that the Federal Government will embark on what the governor is conjuring against the state or any other state, adding that Wike and his officials are known to contrive all sorts of fantasies just to detract and deflect attention from their internal crisis in their camp.
