Rivers APC alleges plot to assassinate members
RIVERS State Governor Nyesom Wike yesterday warned officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against rigging in the forthcoming National and State legislative rerun.

The governor’s warning was coming on the heels of postponement of the National and State House of Assemblies elections initially slated for this weekend but which has been shifted to March 19, 2016.

Governor Wike issued the warning while addressing civil servants at the state secretariat in Port Harcourt yesterday, and he used the occasion to appeal to the workers and Rivers people to vote for Peoples Democratic Party candidates to promote harmony in governance.

Meanwhile, the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the PDP to assassinate some of its leaders with the aim of scaring its supporters from participating in the forthcoming polls.

State Chairman of APC, Davies Ikanya in a save-our-souls (SOS) message to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, disclosed that “Credible information available to the party indicate that the ruling party in the State is set to eliminate APC leaders in the State before the election date.

According to Ikanya, “Credible information available to us indicate that the ruling party in the State is contemplating eliminating APC leaders in the state before the rerun elections into the National and State Assemblies so as to make the coast easy for PDP during the said rerun elections. Our informants have warned us to be on our guard as Rivers PDP has come to see the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming Chief Wike as governor of despite the murder of over 100 APC members in last year polls, has now been interpreted to mean that they can kill and install their members into the Senate, House of Representatives and state Assembly and the courts would in the end affirm their election.”
