WIN Foundation launches free medical outreach for 2,000 children in FCT Owede Agbajileke, Abuja

A non-governmental organisation, When In Need (WIN) Foundation, is set to provide free medical services to over 2,000 infants and children in Garki, in the Federal Capital Territory.

The outreach, which will cater to children between the ages of zero and 12 years, is part of the foundation’s efforts to bridge the healthcare gap and ensure that vulnerable children have access to quality medical care, regardless of their socio-economic background.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the Founder & Chief Executive Officer of WIN Foundation, Dr. Chetachi Ecton, said the development is in honour of her late mother, Ezinne Priscilla Nwogu.

She announced that the event, which will be held on July 5, 2025, will offer a range of medical services, including vaccinations, health screenings, and treatment for various illnesses, with the aim of improving the health and well-being of children in the community.

Dr. Ecton said the programme would take place at the palace of the Emir of Garki, HRH Usman Nga Kupi.

In an emotion-laden voice, she said: “In the spirit of her legacy—of kindness, healing, and dignity for every soul, I have chosen to turn pain into purpose. And that purpose is what brings us here today: the Medical and Mission of Mercy Outreach in her loving memory.

“This is not just an outreach. It is a movement of healing. A call to compassion. An invitation to all of us to stand in the gap for the weak, the vulnerable, the brokenhearted—just as my mother did, quietly but powerfully, in her lifetime.

“We are proud to announce that this initiative will bring together doctors, caregivers, volunteers, students, and communities from all walks of life—rising as one, to serve others.”

Ecton described her late mother as a prayer warrior, first teacher, cheerleader, and comforter.

“She was more than a mother to me. She was the foundation of all I have built, the moral compass that guided my passion for service and compassion,” she added.

Others who extolled the virtues of Ezinne Nwogu at the event and lauded the proposed medical mission included the Emir of Garki, HRH Usman Nga Kupi; and HRM Igwe Samuel Asadu of Enugu State, among others.
