A woman, Outu Ijeoma Fortunate has narrated how she escaped an attack that could have ended her life in the Okigwe area of Imo State on July 14, 2023.
On August 4, 2023, Fortunate, a resident of 1 Petedo, Agbara Ogun State, Behind Belloxi, visited the Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos with an affidavit and reported that on July 14, 2023, when she went to Okigwe Market along Aba expressway, Imo State, she narrowly escaped an attacked by unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) dressed in a black uniform.
She said that on August 2, 2023, at about 8. p.m, while she was with her family, some unknown men stormed her house telling her to open her gate, on hearing
them speak her dialect, she peeped through the gate and noticed that there were people with long bags and started calling for help.
According to her, the vigilante group upon hearing their voice came to her rescue, they started shooting at the vigilante and the vigilante group responded accordingly. No casualty was recorded at that time.
She said: “Myself and my entire family members succeeded in vacating the premises for our safety.”
