Women sign resolution seeking AU Chair’s support for inclusion in AFCFTA
All African women participants at the 2019 Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) yesterday signed a resolution to seek the unconditional support of the African Union (AU) Chair in ensuring that women were involved in the committees that would draft the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement implementation protocols and be involved in the Committee of Ministers responsible for Trade.
The women who met in Cape Town, South Africa, discussed how they could enhance economic development impact through leveraging digitalization, investment in women and how the AfCFTA and intra-Africa trade will benefit them favourably.
