Civil servants in Niger State have begun indefinite strike. The strike kicked off yesterday.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) announced, yesterday, that the action was informed by a breach in the negotiation between government and labour.
NLC Chairman in the state, Yakubu Garba, stated that while negotiation between NLC and representatives of government led by the Deputy Governor, Ahmed Ketso, was ongoing, Rafi Local Council went ahead to pay 70 per cent of February 2022 salary, without the consent of neither the civil servants in Rafi nor the representatives of the union.
The statement noted that action of Rafi negated the progress made in the ongoing negotiation between the organised labour and representatives of the state government.
