Starting tomorrow, the Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa in Lagos will host the first-ever South Africa Week Celebrations.

Starting tomorrow, the Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa in Lagos will host the first-ever South Africa Week Celebrations.

The celebrations, which will take place from April 22 to 29, is to commemorate the 29th Anniversary of South Africa’s democracy and 29 years of formal diplomatic relations between South Africa and Nigeria.

Themed, Celebrating 29 Years of South Africa’s Democracy and Bilateral Relations Between South Africa and Nigeria, the event aims to celebrate years of democracy and freedom.

Other objectives of the celebrations include; deepening bilateral relations through trade and investment, creating social cohesion through a tapestry of arts and culture, positioning South Africa as a preferred tourism, education and business destination and celebrating the diversity in Nigeria.

The schedule for the celebrations is as follows; Saturday 22, Mzansi Imbiso: Launch of South Africa Week and Tourism Activation; Sunday 23, South African and Nigerian Movie and Comedy Night; April 25, South Africa-Nigeria Trade and Investment Roundtable; Friday 28, Freedom Day Celebration and April 29, SACG Golf Tournament.
