Haitian rapper and musician, Wyclef Jean, will be in Plateau State on Thursday, December 28, 2023, for a peace concert and to lay the foundation for the film village proposed by the state.

Plateau is planning a National Film Village, first of its kind in Africa, to serve as a creative incubator for emerging talents in the state and beyond.
The venture is expected to revolutionise the local and global landscapes, featuring state-of-the-art music and movie studios, for equitable wealth distribution and to provide a platform for scaling up and showcasing the talents of Plateau youths on the global stage.

The state has also concluded arrangements for the construction of Smart City Housing Units for low-, middle- and high-income earners, for sustainable housing in the state.

Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Joshua Laven, while taking journalists on a tour of the projects’ sites in Kuru and Mararaban Jama’a in Jos South Local Council, said: “We are here to inspect the sites of our film village and, in respect of the housing project of Governor Caleb Mutfwang tagged Jos Smart City Housing Units.”

“We want to develop a state-of-the-art film village, first of its kind in Africa here. Wyclef Jean is coming on December 28, 2023, for a peace concert and then lay the foundation for the film village. The governor has got the commitment of all developers with a view to hitting the ground running.”

In line with his vision to transform the state, according to him, the governor wants to change the narrative of Plateau from being the home of civil service to the destination for entertainment, peace, and tourism.

Similarly, the General Manager, Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMBD), Hart Bankat, on his part, expressed satisfaction with the two sites secured for the projects, saying they were in line with Mutfwang’s mandate to implement the greater Jos masterplan.
