Yobe converts NYSC camp to isolation centre
The Yobe State COVID-19 response team has converted the Dazigau National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Nangere Council to an isolation centre.
The conversion, according to the team Leader and Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Idi Gubana, was in line with Federal Government’s directive on the prevention of the pandemic.
While inspecting the camp, yesterday, Gubana said: “Governor Mai Mala Buni is complying with global COVID-19 incident and to prevent its outbreak and spread in the state,” adding that it is in addition to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Yobe State Teaching Hospital (YSTH).
“I am satisfied with what I have seen on ground. The camp has about 3, 000 bed capacity, which would be more than enough to accommodate patients with COVID-19 cases, although we are not praying to have even a single case,” he said.
State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Adzer, told Gubana that the camp was ready to be used as COVID-19 isolation centre.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Gana, assured that the centre would strictly adhered to the outlined preventive measures of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to prevent the deadly virus in state.
