Yobe governor visits Army chief, Aliyu in Abuja
Barely three months after President Muhammadu Buhari paid an unscheduled visit to Major Gen. Mohammed Sani Aliyu, who was then receiving treatment in a Berlin hospital, Yobe State governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, at the weekend visited the newly promoted Major General at his home in Niger Barracks, Abuja to commiserate with him and wish him quick recovery.
Aliyu, then a Brig. General, sustained injuries during a car crash along Damaturu-Maiduguri Road early last year. His promotion to the rank of Major General came before the end of 2016 while he was undergoing medical treatment in Germany.
Before the accident, he was General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 DIV of the Nigerian Army, Jos and played a prominent role in the war against Boko Haram insurgency.
He miraculously survived a ghastly road accident in the course of a duty tour in the North-East. The head of Training and Operations of the Nigerian Army, Major-General Yusha’u Abubakar, who was in the same vehicle, was not so lucky as he died in the crash.
“Yobe and the Northeast are safer because of his sacrifices and his service,” the governor said.
Gaidam prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the General quick recovery and good health.
