The Yobe government has reiterated commitment to social safety nets to mitigate the impact of rising cost of living in the state.

Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, stated this while briefing newsmen on Monday in Damaturu.

Bego, who spoke on the outcome of the meeting convened by Gov. Mai Mala Buni with local council chairmen and traditional rulers, said the meeting centered on strategies to address the prevailing economic challenges and foster development.

According to Bego, the state government will upscale empowerment and training programmes for youths, women and vulnerable groups to alleviate their burdens.

He said the Buni’s administration underscored the importance of collaboration with local councils and traditional institutions to ensure effective policy implementation and grassroots development.

“The meeting underscored the need for enhancing skills and craft training opportunities to empower individuals to establish small-scale businesses and contribute to agricultural production,” he said.

Bego further said that some of the participants at the meeting lauded the Buni administration’s agriculture transformation programme.

He, therefore, urged residents of the state to be law-abiding, and pray for peace and prosperity in the country.
