
Mrs. Sesi Ogungbe-Yusuf, Supervisor, Women Affairs, and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Saturday empowered more than 100 women and vulnerable in the council with N20,000 each.Speaking shortly after the empowerment, Ogungbe-Yusuf said this was to enable them improve on their petty businesses and celebrate Christmas and New Year festivals in their different homes.
The supervisor, a 2025 Lagos State Council Election chairmanship aspirant for the council, said she was committed to empowering women and promoting gender equality in Badagry communities.
She said the programme was designed to support women struggling to make ends meet.

“Today, we gather to celebrate the resilience and determination of remarkable women who have been selected to receive cash empowerment.
“The cash grants of N20,000 is just for them to celebrate the yuletide.
“I am committed to working tirelessly to promote the welfare and well-being of women and girls in Badagry West, and I hope to have the opportunity to do so as the Chairman of Badagry West in the future,” She said.
Ogungbe-Yusuf thanked those that had contributed in cash for the success of the empowerment.
Mr. Joseph Gbenu, the Chairman, Badagry-West LCDA urged the beneficiaries to use it for its purpose.

Gbenu assured the people of the council that he would organize another cash empowerment early in 2025 that would benefit more residents of the area.
He, however, commended Ogungbe-Yusuf for assisting the council through the empowerment to residents.
Mr. Abu Oriyemi, a Lagos State APC chieftain , also commended the supervisor for the empowerment.
He said that the party elders are watching her activities, adding that she would reap the fruits of her labour.

Oriyemi commended her for assisting the vulnerable and women in spite of the nation’s economic challenges.
Mrs. Deborah Dosu, one of the beneficiaries promised that they would use the cash for its purpose.
She thanked the supervisor for assisting them .
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that notable personalities in attendance include Mr Peter Metome, APC LGA chairman, Mr Bashir Yusuf, Secretary to the Leaders Forum.
Others are: Chief Dakar Arogunjo, Mr. Osenatu Okejale, Apex APC Woman Leader Badagry West and Mrs. Esther Awhanjinu.
