Yusuf receives IGP’s wife, donates land for POWA secretariat

•Restates commitment to safety of life, property
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies to safeguard life and property across Kano State. In a statement issued by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the governor pledged while receiving the wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs. Elizabeth Kayode Egbetokun, who led executive members of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) on a courtesy visit to his office.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the state government’s continued support for the police in discharging their duties effectively, particularly through the provision of logistics and operational vehicles.
He emphasised that statewide security remains one of his administration’s top priorities, stating: “We remain steadfast in supporting the police and other security agencies because the safety of life and property is critical to the progress and well-being of our people.
“Our administration will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure a secure environment in Kano State.”
The governor commended Mrs. Egbetokun’s dedication to improving the welfare of police officers and their families, describing her initiatives as reflective of the national efforts spearheaded by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to uplift women across the federation.
As a demonstration of his government’s support, Yusuf graciously approved the allocation of land and financial backing for the construction of a POWA Secretariat in Kano.
Earlier, the POWA boss clarified that their visit was to update the governor on the association’s activities in Kano, which include an empowerment programme and the commissioning of a health centre in Panshekara.
She lauded the state government for its strides in empowering women and called for stronger collaboration to enhance the economic well-being of POWA members and ensure a secure and prosperous future for their families.
