Zamfara State Government has promised to start paying the N30,000 monthly minimum wage from next month.

The Deputy Governor and Acting Governor, Hassan Nasiha, said this, yesterday, when he received a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the state government and trade unions.

Nasiha said Governor Bello Matawalle had approved the commencement of the payment.

According to a statement signed by Director-General of Press Affairs, Office of the Deputy Governor, Babangida Zurmi, the MoU was signed after a series of meetings between representatives of the state government and the two unions.

He said: “The deputy governor expressed satisfaction with the level of maturity and understanding demonstrated by the unions during their negotiation and engagement with government officials that led to the amicable resolutions of the lingering issues of minimum wage implementation in the state.”

Meanwhile, Chairman, Zamfara State Taskforce on Security Committee, Abubakar Mohammed Dauran, has solicited support from the public to restore peace in the state.

Dauran also charged members of the taskforce committee to redouble their efforts in discharging their primary responsibilities as outlined in the executive order.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, by Publicity Chairman of the committee, Bello Ibrahim Boko.

The retired police officer, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, gave the charge while briefing the publicity sub-committee in his office in Gusau.

Boko, who advised that the matter concerning compliance with security issues must be addressed by the committee, said: “I am advising the local council committees under the leadership of sole administrators at local council levels to redouble their efforts and assist Matawalle to flush out the remaining bad eggs in the state.”

Dauran, therefore, urged the public to help the committee trace suspicious movement of any person in the state.
