
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has reiterated his commitment to ensuring the independence of the judiciary in the state. Lawal made the assertion during an inspection visit to high courts in the state, emphasizing the importance of preserving justice and promising to establish a strong and autonomous Judiciary.
“I have always maintained that the judiciary is an essential pillar of our democracy, and its independence is crucial for the fair and just administration of justice,” Governor Lawal stated. “Under my administration, the judiciary will continue to receive the necessary support to effectively carry out its duties.”
During his visit, Governor Lawal inspected the facilities and infrastructure at the high courts, including the Gusau High Court complex. He also met with the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, who briefed him on the challenges faced by the judiciary.
“I am aware of the challenges facing the judiciary, and I am committed to addressing them,” Governor Lawal assured the Chief Judge. “I will work closely with the judiciary to ensure that it has the resources it needs to function effectively.”
Justice Aliyu commended Governor Lawal for his unwavering support of the judiciary. “We are grateful for your commitment to judicial independence,” she said. “Your support has enabled us to make significant progress in recent years.”
Governor Lawal’s reaffirmation of his commitment to judicial independence is a positive step towards ensuring a fair and just legal system in Zamfara State.
