In a move to strengthen education and youth development, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced plans to establish the country’s first Immigration Basic and Secondary School in Zamfara State, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB).
Comptroller of Immigration, Zamfara State Command, Aliyu, unveiled the move when she led a management team on a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of ZSUBEB, Prof. Nasir Garba Anka.
Aliyu explained that immigration services extend beyond passport issuance, stressing the service’s vision to contribute to the educational advancement of Nigerian children.
He revealed that academic activities were to commence in 2025 on a temporary site, with plans to introduce training and co-curricular activities to nurture discipline, patriotism, and leadership among young people.
Responding, Anka described the initiative as historic and congratulated the comptroller for his innovation and foresight, which he said, had placed Zamfara on the national map as the pioneer host of the project.
