
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has completed and commissioned 77 projects for service deliveries in the health, education and other sectors of the economy.
The Guardian gathered that the 77 capital projects were to deliver various services and improve the living condition of Borno residents.
Unveiling the projects, yesterday, in Maiduguri, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bukar Tijjani, disclosed: “Our September 2023 Report on100 days in office of Governor Zulum for second term indicated that the 77 projects are in the critical sectors of education, health, agriculture and infrastructural facilities for roads and power supply.”
He said the report, which was released to the public, listed all the projects and their sites from May 29, 2023 to September 6, 2023, adding that the governor delivered 10 projects in the education sector, including establishment of three mega schools.
According to the SSG, the completed primary and junior secondary schools are in Alakaramti and Gambouru Liberty communities of Maiduguri metropolis as well as Jidda and Shuwari II Primary School (named after the late SSG), Usman Jidda Shuwa.
He noted that the completed schools have 80 classrooms with administrative blocks and sporting facilities.
“The three schools were commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Friday, during his two-day official visit to the state,” he said.
Tijjani added that 4,000 teachers were recruited for public primary and secondary schools.
On healthcare, the SSG said: “There are five projects comprising the establishment and construction of four primary healthcare centres.”
The governor also distributed drugs worth N800 million to General Hospitals, he further said.
On security, the governor reportedly procured 50 new patrol vehicles and 300 motorcycles for security agencies in the state.
The SSG added that the state government procured 55 buses for workers in the civil service.
