Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has unveiled the Rayyan Microfinance Bank (RMFB) for non-interest-financing loans to the general public in the state.
According to him, the bank will provide a comprehensive range of banking solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of individuals and business outfits.
Speaking at the unveiling, Zulum highlighted the bank’s role in providing the financial backbone of dozens of communities’ needs to rebuild the livelihoods destroyed by the 16- year Boko Haram insurgency. He lamented that low income individuals currently don’t have access to traditional banking system in the country, Nigeria.
In another development, Zulum has declared that he does not know who will succeed him after the expiration of his 8-year tenure in office on May 2027.
The governor reiterated that his administration continues to focus on strengthening security and providing the needed development projects and programmes to the people across the state.
Zulum spoke on Sunday during a crucial and an important All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders’ meeting held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Government House, Maiduguri.
Addressing party leaders, elected officials and members of APC, Zulum reiterated his stand for a fair, transparent and just process in the election of party officials during the party’s forthcoming congresses in the state. He emphasised that the integrity of the process was paramount for the ruling party’s unity and future success in the 2027 general polls.
The governor, therefore, strongly advocated for a fresh set of credible candidates to occupy the various party positions at the state and council levels.
