SIR: The construction of greater waterworks in Lokoja by the former governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ibrahim Idris has brought succour to the people of Lokoja and its environs.

The presence of both Rivers Niger and Benue in the ancient town is an opportunity for the people to enjoy uninterrupted water supply for their basic needs. But the town of recent has been experiencing acute shortage of water in some sections of the town, which forced a resort to alternatives at the detriment of their health.

The water board in the state ministry of water resources should take every measure to make water available to the people of the state capital.

It’s an irony that a town so blessed with the two biggest rivers in the country should find itself in such precarious situation at a time the government is trying to eradicate the scourge of water-borne diseases. The state government and state water board are advised to do the needful.
