AWKA-ETITI in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State became the center of hope and transformation as philanthropist Mr. Lucky Chinedu Godwin Adimike empowered 38 individuals with a staggering N19.5 million during Faithspiration Initiative’s Night of Praise, Worship and Mega Empowerment. The event, held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Awka-Etiti was a celebration of spiritual renewal and also marked a significant leap toward economic and spiritual empowerment for beneficiaries and their families.

In an atmosphere charged with gratitude and faith, 35 recipients received N500,000 each to kickstart their entrepreneurial pursuits. Two additional beneficiaries were granted N750,000, while popular comedian Valentine Obinwanne, known as Unku SP Onye Obodo, was also supported with N500,000. This large-scale financial intervention came after a similar act of generosity on December 27, 2024, when Mr. Adimike provided palliatives, including 200 bags of rice and 200 bags of beans, to 200 families as part of his commitment to alleviating hardship in the community.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Adimike, who is based abroad, reflected on the origins of his philanthropic journey. He described the empowerment programme as a fulfillment of a covenant with God, inspired by his own experiences of hardship in the past. “I understand what it means to struggle,” he shared. “Now that God has blessed me, I am committed to being a vessel for others’ upliftment. The little I have is meant to be shared with those in need.”
The beneficiaries, selected after undergoing intensive financial training, were encouraged to use their grants wisely. Mr. Adimike emphasised that the funds were not gifts to be squandered but tools for building sustainable futures. He challenged them to use the knowledge gained during their training sessions to grow their businesses and, in turn, empower others. “By next year, I hope some of you will stand where I am today, giving back to others,” he urged.
The event was graced by several notable figures, including the President General of the Awka-Etiti Improvement Union, Hon. Emeka Ezeoke, and other community leaders. Their presence underlined the importance of community-driven initiatives in nurturing development and hope. Rev. Fr. Paul Ihebighi, the Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, described the empowerment as unprecedented, commending Mr. Adimike for his enduring commitment to uplifting the less privileged. Parish Council Vice Chairman Agudo Chike Okpala echoed this sentiment, reminding the beneficiaries to embrace the spirit of stewardship by uplifting others as they achieve success.
Among the resource persons at the event includes; Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Igwe, Rev. Fr. Alex Chimebuka Eze, Chief Imo, Evangelist Onyeka Obiezu ( Onye amuma), Sir. One on One (Woman leader), Albino brothers, Unku SP Onye Obodo, Mirabel Chisom, Igwe White and Sister Chioma Ezefete.

Faithspiration Initiative, spearheaded by Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, the Founder and Spiritual Director, is a movement rooted in faith and social justice. Fr. Adimike explained that the initiative seeks to reignite faith in Christ through acts of charity and community-building. “Our goal is to light a candle rather than curse the darkness,” he said, noting that the project symbolises hope amid Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.
Beyond the financial empowerment, the event offered profound spiritual insights. Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Igwe delivered a thought-provoking session that explored the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Igbo people. While celebrating Igbo industriousness and traditions, he cautioned against practices like ritual money-making schemes, which he dismissed as unconnected to authentic Igbo values. “Christianity is not a scam,” he stated, pointing to the transformative impact of the faith on education, healthcare, and social development in the region.
Mrs. Lucky Lovelyn Adimike, wife to Mr. Lucky Adimike, also played a significant role in the event’s success. She highlighted the couple’s shared commitment to helping others as an expression of gratitude for God’s blessings. “Empowering others glorifies God,” she said, advising beneficiaries to focus on meaningful ventures and avoid extravagance. She also called on young people to embrace apprenticeships and skill-building programmes to secure brighter futures.
As attendees departed, inspired by the evening’s message and its tangible acts of charity, the community of Awka-Etiti stood as a shining example of what can be achieved when faith and philanthropy come together.
