Wike Rivers election

Sir: The Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate (CPPM) condemns in strong and unmistakable terms, a recent statement credited to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state asking “all political appointees and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state to resist any form of arrest by security agents on trumped-up charges”.

We regard this statement which emanated from the office of an executive governor of a state who swore on oath to abide by the constitution as barbaric, crude, irresponsible, provocative, inciting, reckless, an invitation to anarchy and unbecoming of the occupant of the exalted seat of governor of a state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This call for violence by Mr. Nyesom Wike should be seen as an act of desperation and intimidation against the security agencies who are constitutionally empowered to ensure public safety and order.

Mr. Nyesom Wike by this barbaric statement of call for anarchy has shown that civility and respect for the constitution, which is one of the tenets of democracy is immaterial and irrelevant. This is unacceptable.

Executive Chairman.

Nelson Ekujimi, seems not to take into consideration, the phrase “trumped-up charges”…
Nigerians are watching and know for sure that, truth shall prevail and all evil doers shall be exposed/disgraced!!!

The problem it seems could be the difficulties of assigning the responsibility of defining and determining what are “trumped-up charges” and what are not to @oloko, the governor, the political appointees or anyone besides constituted authority….and act on that accordingly…. that’s the simple definition of “anarchy”

Why is EFCC & ICPC turned to a willing tool of oppression in the land, both determines order of Court to either obey or disobey. A situation like this allowed the GOV Wike to make this utterances for his own political expediences. Naija ougth to have surpass this level. We all have a duty to protect this Democracy

It is futile, trying to defend these politicians. Both Wike and Fayose used the same agents of government (including DSS and military) they now complain about under the erstwhile regime. It is a case of power abuse, both then and now, but who suffers, the poor electorate like you and I, especially the gullible who allow themselves to be used as thugs, and sometimes lose their lives in bloody clashes.
