SIR: In a couple of days, Ogun State would be celebrating 40 years of its creation. In the light of this, the state Government announced that rather than commemorate the occasion with the usual pop and merriment, which celebrations of its nature attract- its attention would be focused on delivering 40 Legacy Projects to the people of the state.

This project, which is termed Operation 40 at 40 is clearly a paradigm shift from marking events of this magnitude in Nigeria. A cursory look at some of the Legacy projects earmarked for the celebration shows the futuristic intent of the government for the state. From the Model schools to World-class roads and bridges and other public infrastructures that are spread across the three senatorial districts of the state, the government has shown its resolve to monumentally upgrade the state.

Feelers from the major towns and cities in the State mirror the excitement and joy of the people of Ogun State as they eagerly anticipate the huge harvest coming their way. I will like to congratulate them and also urge them to make judicious use of these infrastructures, I strongly believe that other State Governments in Nigeria should take a cue from Ogun State by making people centred activities the core of their anniversary celebrations.
