Good write up! My main purpose of reading this was to find out the main causes of the incessant annihilation and decapitation of human beings by another. I am glad that you nailed it in paragraph nine of the article. I am a bit relaxed knowing that this problem had built up unattended over the years. The herdsmen are desperately in need of grazing land while the local and professional farmers need their lands for cultivation and hardly had enough land to lay fallow for possible grazing period. In addition, the herdsmen value the lives of their cattle more than the lives of their fellow country men. They also do not know how else to continue their live and maintain their occupation, so they went back to what looks like the forgotten tribal wars, to conquer, loath and occupy while the locals fight to retain their land however they lost their lives in doing so. The worse still is that, the Nomads prefer nomadic life so the idea of settling in ranches may be very difficult unless enforced. Giving them some years in the ranch, they would never wander again. The federal Government of Nigeria has a very big socioeconomic task to establish the ranch farming in the states such as deserve it so as to settle and rehabilitate the nomads instead of equipping them with AK-47. I was afraid that those herdsmen were fake and could be another method of Boko Haram insurgency until I read this article. Hope you are right.
