As 2019 presidential election draws nearer, officially, unconfirmed number of armed Nigerian soldiers were mercilessly killed in one fell swoop by Boko Haram insurgency.

Sir: As 2019 presidential election draws nearer, officially, unconfirmed number of armed Nigerian soldiers were mercilessly killed in one fell swoop by Boko Haram insurgency. The nation is bleeding and it needs urgent revival. The hands of Esau in this heinous crime must be uncovered and put to public shame.

Something is fishy somewhere! We’re in dark days in Nigeria as the nation mourns her illustrious sons and daughters killed in a brutal terror attack. Don’t be deceived, there’s more to this heinous crime! These patriotic citizens must not die in vain. Government must get to the root of this ugly incident and the covert and overt sponsors must be exposed and brought to book! President Muhammadu Buhari was a General in the Nigerian army. Where’s his military intelligence and manoeuvring skills? The sovereignty of Nigeria is under attack now and the nation is under siege under his administration. The president must act fast to avoid the cruxification of him by his adversaries waiting to nail him.

Sadly, for the strong Nigerian army and its troops to be decimated with brutal and deadly weapons by the unrepentant fundamentalists and terrorists, the Federal Government has some explanations to make for the people of Nigeria. The decimation of our soldiers is not only humiliating and scary, it puts the buck at the table of the president. If the helpless people are not safe, then their Commander-in-Chief and the government have failed them. If the perpetrators and masterminds are not brought to Nigeria criminal justice, then we are all in collective serious trouble in Nigeria.

Mr. President, please act now, and act fast to protect your vulnerable citizens. This is one egregious incident too many in nation still grappling to put yesterday behind her. The resurgence of Boko Haram is a minus to all attempts being made by this administration to rescue Nigeria from her past.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Chief of Army Staff and other military personnel in Nigeria must hold emergency meetings to be tagged: ‘Intelligence gathering and counter-terrorism’ to stem the tide of imminent war on the Nigerian people. A state of emergency must be declared immediately on the nation’s security to prevent the imminent catastrophe looming over Nigeria as the 2019 presidential election drags nearer. We hope this reinsurgency is not politically motivated, otherwise, the road ahead to 2019 is famished in Nigeria. In a jiffy, the road must be paved with maximum and strategic security and vigilance.
