SOS to the minister on plight of publishers

Sir: Permit me a space to inform the Minister of Education about the plight of publishers supplying textbooks to Federal Government Colleges across the country. Some principals of these Unity Schools are in the habit of demanding high percentages from the publishers, ranging from 15 per cent to 20 per cent of the total cost, which again has negative consequences on the purse of parents.

In view of this development, the minister is hereby informed through this medium to help publishers check the excesses of these exploiters. The percentages of the sum collected on the books supplied to the colleges are not remitted to the purse of the Federal Government but rather to the purse of private individuals.
