The power in advantage

Sir: Many years ago, in a small town in Atlanta, Georgia, United States (U.S.), a chemist climbed his horse and rode to a man’s shop. He went in through the back door. He carried in his hand an old-fashioned kettle and a wooden paddle. He brought these items to the shop with a sheet of paper on which was written the recipe for a drink. The drink means nothing to the chemist as he needed money. Both of them bargained and eventually, the man gave the chemist $238,000.98 for the item. What the chemist sold to this man became a fortune to him but not to the chemist.

To the surprise of the man, the content of the kettle has since become a household name in the world. It began to pour forth wealth. The content of the kettle has been heard of in more places on the earth than any gospel.

Somehow, the young man added something to the kettle, the wooden paddle and the written recipe. That thing, I believe, is an advantage. Today, the content of that kettle is the greatest consumer of sugar in the world and it is one of the world’s greatest consumers of glass and has turned the fortune of many men around. The name of this man is Asa Griggs Candler and the drink is one of the most popular soft drinks today worldwide.

The same thing that the chemist placed a value of $238,000.98, in 2021 was valued at $87.6 billion. The difference between the man and the chemist was one advantage. The chemist did not realise that while he was holding the kettle and the recipe, billions of dollars were potentially lying in his hands.

Unfortunately, he didn’t take advantage, so he could not get the billions of dollars. But one young man took advantage and was able to potentially make billions with it.

I share this story with you to make you understand one of the basic principles of life. When you understand that simple foundation, you lay hold on a principle that can see you through to the fulfilment of your destiny. A great future awaits all of us, but I want to tell you to make the move, and take advantage. Your future is sleeping quietly inside every advantage you take.
