1,000 APC members defect to NNPP in Kano
No fewer than 1,000 All Progressives Congress (APC) members have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).The exodus had strengthened the ruling party, as it prepared for the local council poll, thus solidifying its foothold in Kano, a key base of Dr Musa Kwankwaso’s political influence.
APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, hail from the senatorial district. The event took place in both Tofa and Ghari council areas, where the defectors officially joined the NNPP.
The State Party Chairman, Dr Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, was on hand to welcome the defectors. Among the notable attendees were the NNPP candidates for the council elections, Yakubu Ibrahim Adis of Tofa and Hashimu Mai Sabulu of Ghari.
Both candidates restated confidence in NNPP’s growing strength in the region, especially with the influx of new members. The defectors said they were aligning with the Kwankwaso–led Kwankwasiyya movement.
