Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has said he would support President Bola Tinubu over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar if the 2027 presidential election were held today.
Omokri, in an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, said that although he used to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he is now disappointed with the party’s failure to keep its promises.
“If an election is being held today and the candidates are Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Bola Tinubu, I will vote for Bola Tinubu,” Omokri said.
He added that not only would he vote for Tinubu, but he would also personally campaign for him and spend his own money to support Tinubu’s re-election.
Omokri described Tinubu as a “transformational leader” and praised his leadership style.
When asked what he would do if Tinubu loses in 2027, Omokri replied, “I have a successful business. I’ve travelled to many countries this year. I’ll keep doing what I’m doing.”
He also described himself as a patriot, saying, “Look, I am a patriot. I came here from California because somebody was undermining my country. I am a man of means. I do not depend on the government. If Tinubu is no longer the president, and another person is the president, if he’s not doing what he is supposed to be doing, I will fight that person just like I fought Buhari.”
