A Zamfara State governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, has raised concerns over his alleged exclusion from the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, describing it as a deliberate attempt to undermine his political ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Jaji, who represents Kaura-Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, on Wednesday visited the APC National Secretariat in Abuja to lodge a formal complaint with the party’s national leadership.

Speaking after a meeting with the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, he alleged that he and many of his supporters were denied registration in Zamfara State, linking the development to internal party politics and his governorship ambition.

According to Jaji, the issue arose shortly after the commencement of the e-registration exercise, with key state party officials, including the Organising Secretary, reportedly prevented from participating. He explained that he was out of the country for the lesser Hajj when registration began, but was informed by his supporters that they were being deliberately excluded, even as other party factions publicly displayed evidence of their completed registrations.

“As a sitting member of the House of Representatives and someone who served as Director of Budget and Operations during the 2023 general election, I found it disturbing that I was yet to be registered,” he said.

Jaji warned that such actions, if unaddressed, could undermine party unity and weaken the APC’s prospects in future elections, citing past internal crises that contributed to the decline of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He expressed confidence in the national leadership of the APC, describing the chairman as “magnanimous” and committed to fairness, inclusiveness, and internal democracy. The national chairman assured him that the matter would be resolved immediately, directing relevant officials, including the Deputy National Organising Secretary, to address the issue.

Jaji maintained that those working against him were within the APC, attributing their actions to fear of his political strength and popularity in Zamfara. He also noted that the absence of a clearly defined party leadership structure in the state had exacerbated internal disagreements, while stressing that the APC remains the dominant party in Zamfara despite recent challenges.

“The issue is APC versus APC. Zamfara is an APC state, and it will remain so,” he said, expressing optimism that the party would emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.
