Aborisade reaffirms unity in Oyo PDP during consultation visit

As part of ongoing grassroots consultations ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention scheduled for November 2025, a high-powered delegation led by prominent PDP chieftain Chief Niyi Aborisade returned to Ibarapa to engage key stakeholders and consolidate party structures across the region.

The meeting, described as strategic and forward-looking, was convened to engage leaders and loyalists who were unable to attend the previous gathering, ensuring that no voice within the party is left unheard during this critical pre-convention period.

Chief Aborisade reaffirmed the unity within the PDP family in Oyo State, emphasising that despite political distractions, the party remains one cohesive body under the capable and visionary leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“The PDP in Oyo remains one united family. His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, is our leader, and we are solidly behind his developmental vision for the state and the future of our great party,” Aborisade stated.

He urged all party members in Ibarapa to remain resolute and not be swayed by overtures from opposition parties. According to him, the strength of the PDP lies in its loyalty and grassroots connection, and the coming months are crucial in solidifying the party’s dominance in the state.

“We advised our members not to defect to any other political party. The PDP has a strong foundation in Oyo State, and our track record in governance speaks volumes. We must remain unshaken in our belief that everything will turn out well,” he said.

During the visit, Aborisade and his team also inaugurated a robust political structure aimed at strengthening the party’s mobilisation capacity in Ibarapa ahead of the November convention and the 2027 general elections.

Local leaders and stakeholders in attendance expressed gratitude for the continued engagement and described the meeting as a morale booster. They pledged their unwavering support to the PDP, commending Governor Makinde’s people-centred leadership and the inclusiveness the party has consistently demonstrated.

The consultation is part of a broader effort by the Oyo PDP leadership to ensure every region and local government area is aligned with the party’s goals, as it positions itself not only for a successful convention but also for future electoral victories.
